College Golf Network (CGN) was founded in early 2023 by Michael Minnehan and Doug Rios Ceballos. CGN is now owned, operated and managed by Mike and Doug, both former Division 1 golfers, The Art Group, a marketing and media solutions firm and Five G Capital, a Merchant Banking firm who brings financial backing and extensive business expertise.
The mission of CGN is to provide first class live golf broadcasting experience from a competitive player’s perspective to premier college and amateur tournaments (mens and womens) and leading and top ranked junior events throughout the United States, Canada and Mexico.
Lastly, CGN endeavors to partner with and collaborate with host tournaments by marketing and selling corporate sponsorship opportunities with the objective of generating additional revenue for all event stakeholders.
I grew up in Rochester, New York, where I was surrounded by the history of golf. After being very involved in baseball early in life, I was introduced to the game a little later than some of my peers. Once I began playing, there was nothing I’d rather do than be out on the course from sunrise to sunset with my best friends. After graduating from McQuaid Jesuit High School, I earned my bachelor’s from Old Dominion University in sport management, while being a part of the men’s varsity golf team from my arrival on campus in 2018 until my graduation in 2022. Upon graduation, I quickly realized that many of my fondest memories from my young adult life came from being on the golf course with friends. This also led me to realize that I did not fully appreciate it in the moment, which resulted in the creation of College Golf Network. Being on the golf course with your friends, whether it be in a college event or amateur event is worth capturing. College Golf Network was founded to give parents, friends, and others a chance to watch something that gives many of us a sense of meaning and joy. We understand not everyone can make it out to the events, which is why we are proud to provide a high quality streaming service for friends, family, alumni, and fans to enjoy.
I was born and raised in Sydney, Australia for the first 18 years of my life prior to my relocation to the United States to continue my golf career. I attended Hutchinson Community College in Kansas for my first two years of college from 2016 until 2018, where I played on the varsity golf team and earned my associates degree. After Hutchinson, I transferred to Old Dominion University to continue my education and golf career. ODU helped me gain valuable experiences outside of golf including an internship and graduate assistantship with the varsity football team in equipment. I graduated with my Bachelor’s of Science in Sport Management in 2021 and completed my studies with my Master’s of Science in Sport Management in 2022. I now live in Kansas City with my wife, Arika. College golf has left a lasting impression on my life and I will remember all the memories my teammates and I made on and off the course. Playing collegiate golf for over four years, my parents never had the opportunity to watch me play in person or over video as they reside in Australia. College Golf Network was in part created to do something about this and help the friends and families of foreigners who might not be able to see their loved ones play tournaments overseas. I envision the future of College Golf Network as covering collegiate golf and giving a larger platform for these deserving student-athletes.
